This is the Sunday morning message from April 3, 2011 at Highland Baptist Tabernacle. We have often heard the story of Jesus and the Gentile lady that comes to Him in Tyre and Sidon seeking healing of demon possession for her daughter. This story had an amazing impact on my heart as I looked back into it once again. The message digs into the depths of the woman’s need and the grace shown to her by Jesus stepping outside of the intended time line of His ministry (although all things are known by Him) in order to perform the only recorded miracle outside of Israel.
In the end, Jesus concludes of this woman, “O woman, great is your faith.” I want to have a faith like that, don’t you? So why not use this woman’s example of approaching Jesus? Her approach is one of necessity, humility, persistence, and faith as she pleads her daughter’s need before the Savior.
